GPU VS Software Text Cross Dissolve issue ( Just the start of Bugs )

Where to start…. Ok let start with the GPU render engine. I have used it on many different cards and systems, so it’s not just local with my PC. A bug report has been filed and this is my 2nd time addressing issues with the GPU acceleration. It’s so bad that I don’t even use it unless I have a rush job. The Gaussian blur brightness and contrast and many other effects render completely different from the software render.

This issue has been an annoying one for years and I am shocked Adobe has not fixed it by now.

On a dark background Text will not fade in gradual no matter how long you make the transition. This same issue will duplicate itself if you key frame the opacity. Take a look at the video link below and you will clearly see the issue.

In the sequence settings, uncheck "composite in linear color."

No that was all the way on the slider, depending on the contrast of the image you will get that edge. Example: So you have a logo animation and you want to add glow to the highlights. First you duplicate the layer crank the contrast up so the highlights are bright, pop on a blur and use a screen blend. In GPU mode it looks like crap, you can drop a non real-time effect in at the end of the stack and it will fix it because it forces Premiere to render that clip in software.

That worked thanks.   Another issue I have with GPU is many of the effects don't work like you would expect. The Gaussian blur does not work correctly causing hard lines on black and white with a blur no matter how much you crank it.

How far are you pushing the gaussian blur: beyond max?
