Graphic equalizer not working

Question

When I add Graphic Equalizer 30 bands to an audio track, sometimed it works fine, other times it has no effect at all.  Just now I was adjusting the graphic equalizer and it was modifying the frequency response properly, then for no reason it stopped working. I think the previous settings were still working, but I could make no new adjustments. Why is this?

Could you provide a bit more information to help troubleshoot the issue?

Are you applying the graphic equalizer as a clip effect or a track effect? (I know you said track, but sometimes people say this when referring to a clip)
Are you making adjustments during playback, or when the timeline is paused?
Are you using keyframes to adjust specific frequency bands, or making changes to the entire clip?
Is the Bypass option enabled?
