H264 --> DNX LB 1080p = not using GPU?

Hi, I noticed something strange.

When encoding H264 1080p --> DNX LB 1080p the GPU remains unused. Only the CPU is doing the work.

However when doing H264 4K --> DNX LB 1080p it is using the GPU to the full extend.

Is this normal?

It seems whenever a frame resize has to happen or the frame rate of the source is different then the designation the GPU is utilised.

I'm new to PP on windows and I'm still experimenting with the best proxy codec that ecodes the fastest.

Is cinefom still a thing? Because on the gopro website is states that it is abandoned.

    It is ok, The system is automatically choosing when to use your GPU and when CPU,  if you want PP to use your GPU and not only your CPU you may open Nvidia control panel and make Nvidia card default for premiere,

    Might want to read this doc on  what cuda does and does not do.

    In short the first export there is no scaling involved: no gpu.

    Second export is scaling involved: gpu us used.

    Even when proxies used the original files will be used for export.

    Cool, I thought that some codecs where optimised for GPU offload. But didn't know it was limited to specific operations like resizing etc...

    H.264 is now supported but your computer must have the correct hardware.
