Question

h264 NAS

Bug report: After upgrading to Premiere v15, exporting an H264 file from either Premiere or Media Encoder to my NAS creates a file which the program claims exported successfully, but actually creates a glitched file. At some point in the file, the audio will drop out, and the video will freeze on a single frame, which will remain on screen for the rest of the duration.

Exporting a quicktime file to my NAS doesn't cause this problem, and exporting an H264 file to my internal harddrive doesn't cause this problem, so there's only an issue with the combination of encoding to the H264 export setting to a NAS location that is causing a problem.

This is hugely disruptive to my workflow, and I really need it fixed...

My h264 issue is a little different. Any export from Premiere v15 as h264, even exported to my local computer, drops audio and video frames in the video when streamed from my NAS (Drobo5n wired to router and streamed over wifi). Videos exported as h264 from Premiere v14 have no issue. Tried many things on v15 and couldn't solve the problem.

I don't think this issue is exclusive to exporting to a NAS. It seems like the h264 codec in v15 has issues in general, and streaming highlights them.

Same issue here still. Happens on several different iMac systems running Catalina 10.15.7. Encoding to a QNAP NAS (TS-832X with firmware 4.3.6.1070) over AFP protocol. Hardware and software encoding does the same dropout at the end. The only fix I've found is switching to VBR - 2 Pass. Then it exports fine.

same issue - just spend 3 hours troubleshooting to no resolve, except to render to the desktop.
even rendering to ProsRes and then to H.264 (if to the NAS) ended up withe same result

This is still an issue, a couple of months later. Using Mac running Catalina (10.15.7) and exporting H.264 to my Synology NAS results in an incomplete file.

Status please?

Hey!
Not sure if this is still an issue for you, but we are running in to the same problem every time, but have found that doing a 2 Pass render works every time.

Would love for this to get fixed though

Let me know!

What codecs did you use ? What software to play the file ?

You could try to export with AfterCodecs Exporter for Adobe CC https://www.autokroma.com/AfterCodecs

there is a free 500 frames trial, or H264 is free when resolution is < 720p

I am experiencing the same issue with both Premiere 15 and 15.1. I am running MacOS 11.3.1. I am getting the glitch using both hardware and software encoding, but the video no longer glitches if I don't export the audio. My NAS is a Synology FS3400.

Same problem here on our Synology DS1621xs+

Quicktime Apple Prores codec exports fine but h.264 has a terrible dropout with audio and video at the end of the exported clip.

Premiere pro 15.1.0 (Build48)
MacOS Big Sur 11.2.3
