handle length in dynamic link to audition

Somehow in Premiere when i am choosing to edit in audition, it is not letting me change the handle length.

The default is set to 9.99 seconds.

If I remember correctly, I was able to earlier change it.

In any case I feel that maybe there shouldNT be a need for handle length option like that, it should be able to access the complete file,

at least there should be an option for that,

otherwise what s the big difference between omf and dynamic link...

the video getting transferred directly is nice, but the transition into audition should also be smoother and for taking it back too...

otherwise the whole process is just too similar as the omf one, which is fine, but would be great to have the possibility of being able to go back and forth...

that could really change and help the whole workflow process and make it more fleXible...

In any case, the handle length for now...

yeah, i do agree with you.

unless it works with the original files, there s no point to dynamic link...

just that how daw s generally work - when they are processing audio files, they will make a new processed file for it...

and that does make sense in that workflow,

but anyway, i think it will be really useful only if they fiXed dynamic link...

The thing now is that I am able to do a good pre miX on this before sending it for final miXing...

Better for cleaning up, eq's, basic effects than editing softwares...

but the handle length being videos doesnT make sense...

why will a DAW need video's handle length....

The Dynamic Link to Audition really only applies to the video portion.  Instead of rendering out the video file to work with, Audition can now read the PP timeline directly.

The audio portion, the part that really matters, is still rendering files and using destructive editing techniques, which to my thinking makes Audition useless for video work.

I would argue that until Audition can work non-destructively with the original audio (or at least the conformed files created by PP), it's usefulness to video editors is severely limited, and is probably best avoided except for special needs.
