Hardware acceleration in the 14.2 update not working for 360 video

I updated all my drivers, and was able to export a standard HD video pretty fast using the new hardware encoder option in the 14.2 update. I opened up my new 360 virtual reality project and when I click on the hardware encoding option under the encoder settings, it tells me "Your system's hardware does not support hardware acceleration for the current settings."

I tried messing with other output settings in both h.264 and h.265, yet I keep getting the error (yes, 1 pass is selected).  I tried exporting a 360 clip without the VR options and it still gives me that error. The hardware encode option works fine with 4k video, but when I try with footage from my GoPro MAX it does not work, leaving just the software encode option avaialbe. How can I get the hardware encode option to work using 360 video?

My settings: Intel Core i7-8700k CPU @ 3.70GHZ

16.0GB RAM

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Ti
