Question

Have Saves become unreliable?

This morning Turned on ma computer. Went right to work on my daily Morning show promo and while I was typing my captions I realized I could no longer adjust the length of the captions part with the mouse it di not work at all. I had to enter the numbers by hand.

So my tech suggested that I should restart. So, Like a good boy I Saved at least 3 times before I closed the software. Then without rebootiong I openned Premiere Pro and the captions where back to normal. But one thing was wrong, everything I had done before encountering the problem was gone. Like I had never done it.

So, if we can't rely on our Saves wich was our last line of defence against the very many bugs we encounter, what are we going to do?

Something I have been complaining about since day 1.

Most of the very disturbing problems I am getting with saves may have been solved.

Because we have been running the Adobe Collection on a PC platform I have been telling my technicians that the system drive have to be larger since we have 64Gigs of RAM. There was only about 30Gigs of free space. Microsoft recommends a least 1.5 times de RAM wich would mean approximately 100Gigs of free space. This unlike the Mac computers wich manage drives differently and allow you to let them fill up.

Well, after spending many phonecalls with Engineers it was decided that we need to increase the size of the system drive.

And now for a little venting: I was right all along and I have been dealing with this for 3 years. None of my techs of bosses listened to me for a second and I have 35 years experience with using and maintaining computers. What does it take to get a little recognition in this world.

    There I'm done!

    I never trust auto save.

I always make a Save a copy to another drive after each edit session.
