Question

Having to render just to see changes like upping exposure

Trying to edit a video and I've just started to make small edits using basic correction, how can I see my edits in real time so I dont have to keep manually rendering? All I'm trying to do is make adjustments like bringing up exposure, shadows, and highlights.

Hello Brandon etc.,

Couple of quick reactions:

XAVC is a demanding codec (requires a lot of processing power to display). There are better (less processor intensive) codecs to use in an edit (via a proxy workflow) such as ProRes or DNx.

What are your sequence settings? Any mismatch between your sequence and your source material will add to processing demands.

You're using high frame rate clips - that means if you put them into a lower frame rate sequence, you are asking Premiere Pro to do a frame rate conversion on the fly (from, for example, 120fps to 24fps), which adds to processing demands.

Mostly it depends on your footage. What are you using, what was it shot on?

If it's h.264 (or 5) and variable frame rate, you'll have some issues.

Give us your hardware specs and they type of footage:

You can use the free MediaInfo program to get info on your clips. Get the program from the link below and using the 'Tree' view post a screenshot of your clip info: https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo/Download
