Having trouble with variable frame rate footage and audio sync

I am making a tutorial video for a billard system, where i filmed with two cameras that shot at a frame rate of 25 fps and a screen recorder shooting at 59.94 fps (and i have no idea how to see if it is constant or variable frame rate it shot in - i used the dvr function in the xbox app). I have tried interpreting the 59.94 fps footage as 25 fps and line it up with the 25 fps clips, but it still goes out of sync. Even when i sync beginning and end, it will still get out of sync in the middle.

I know that it is bad practice to use different frame rates like this, but i would like to know if there is any way for me to get it in sync, or if i should just give up at try to manually make segments fit as good as possible. Also, i am not sure i completely understand what is going on when it gets out of sync in the middle, so if someone has an explanation for that, that would also be nice.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Eblermeister,

Transcode your footage using handbrake & re-import in Premiere Pro.

Let me know if that makes a difference.

Thanks,

Thank you both, using Handbrake solved the issue as the clips seems to be in sync now!

Is there a way to calculate how far it slips out of sync over time, figure out a percentage, then change the "speed/duration" of the clip on the timeline to make it fit? (I wasn't sure if it was a constant slippage, or varied with the content)...i.e., if it needed to be played on the timeline at 98% instead of 100%, etc.)

Media Info, a free program, is what is most recommended around here for finding out what's in our media:

Media Info:        https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo

"Drop" a file on it, then select Tree view, and it will tell you everything about that file.

If that's VFR, it could be the issue here.

Thank you, i can confirm that it is VFR now, which probably is the issue. I guess that there is no possible way of making it sync with the other clips then?

Kulpreet's suggestion to use Handbrake to convert the video of that clip to CFR is what you need to do. So, delete the clip from the project via the Project panel, convert it with HandBrake, then import that converted clip to PrPro.
