HDV tape footage: Capture input format change error

Trying to capture HDV tape footage.

Deck is a JVC BR-HD50, tape was shot on a JVC HDV Camera.

When I try to capture, I get a "Change inout format" code.

Kind of stuck here until I can capture raw footage...

How or what do I need or change?

Mark

    Hi Mark,

First thing is to check the menu in the deck and make sure the 1394 (i.Link) output is set to HDV and not DV or Auto which can cause issues. Windows will see a DV camera as a DV Device, while it sees an HDV camera or deck as an "AVC" unit I believe. Important that Windows sees the latter or you can't capture HDV in Premiere.

When I do this, I power OFF camera or deck and disconnect Firewire from PC. Then reset deck output type (DV or HDV). Power off again, reconnect Firewire, power ON and see what Windows says when you power on.

    Thanks

    Jeff

Thanks Jeff I will try  the power off/on and see what that does.

I already have the setting HDV correct.

Doing this on an IMac, with CC 2015. I could go too a different computer and go CC 2017's latest version...

But the other set up is not being used so I wanted to use that and not tie up my daily computer.

    Again thanks Jeff!

    I did everything you suggested.

In the capture window it starts off like this:

    "Capture Device is off line"

I power on the JVC BR-HDV-50 playback deck and I get this,

"Try changing camera format or capture settings".

    Still stumpped.
