Question

Hello. I've transcribed my interview footage and now I'm building sequences of selects to share with the client. How do I get the transcript of the selected clips to show the source timecode and not the timecode of the timeline?

Hello.

I’ve transcribed a bunch of interviews in Premier Pro and now I’m assembling sequences of selected clips to share with the client. Is there a way to have the transcript of the sequence display the source timecode instead of the sequence timecode? Thank you!

Export an EDL along with the transcript. Then use an LLM, such as Claude or ChatGPT, to replace the sequence timecode with the source timecode.

Hi there — unfortunately there isn't a setting for this. A sequence transcript always follows the sequence (timeline) timecode, and Premiere doesn't offer an option to switch it to source timecode — this has been a long-standing feature request.

Workaround for client selects: use the source clips' own transcripts instead. Double-click an interview clip in the Project panel (or open it in the Source Monitor) — that transcript belongs to the source media itself, so you can pull the selected sections from there with the source timing, rather than from the assembled sequence's transcript.

Thanks for your help. I can work around it. It would be nice feature, though.
