    Correct answer Vidya Sagar

And I do have a separate thunderbolt display but that has an AMD Radeon R9 M370X as well.

    Hi Jimf,

I think it might be an issue with the Permissions.

Just for test, Is it possible to Login to the machine using Administrator account & Launch Premiere Pro?

    Thanks,

    Vidya Sagar.

For anyone who ends up here from google and has tried the Adobe Knowledge Base suggestions to no avail...

On OSX, unlock permissions on the following directory:

/Applications/Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2017/Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2017.app/Contents/Plug-ins/Common

    From Terminal:

    sudo chmod 755 /Applications/Adobe\ Premiere\ Pro\ CC\ 2017/Adobe\ Premiere\ Pro\ CC\ 2017.app/Contents/Plug-Ins/Common

You will need to be logged in as admin to do this but that will grant access to all non-admin users.

    Hi Jimf,

Please provide us the following information.

    1. What is the version of the Operating System?

    2. What is the version of Premiere Pro?

    3. Have you updated the Graphics Card driver?.

    4. Are you logged in as an Administrator into the machine?

    Thanks,

    Vidya Sagar.

    Vidya,

    I'm running OSX version 10.11.6,

    Premiere Pro CC 2017,

I have not updated the graphics driver.  My macbook is two month old, and Premiere Pro CC 2015 was working fine,

and I am not an Administrator so I can't really troubleshoot using this link - Error "Premiere Pro could not find any capable video play modules" | Startup

Yes, this is a well known problem

    1st, Read http://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/kb/error---preludevideo-play-modules.html

-also AVG antivirus causes problems https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2138787

2nd, Dual video problems - Do you have dual graphics adapters?

Go to the Windows Control Panel and select Hardware and Sound and then select Device Manager... In Device manager you click the + sign to the left of Display Adapters... and see if 2 are listed

    IF YES, read below
