Help locating missing media in a timeline

I have a video from a year ago. When I try to edit it, I only see some of the clips. Others missing.  I have used the link media and locate function and pointed it to my external hard drives where I am fairly sure the files are located but it does not find them after many attempts.  What am I doing wrong?

Hi Lane, just following up on Paul's suggestion above — checking the Last Path field in the Locate File window is exactly the right first step, because it shows the drive and folder where Premiere last saw each missing file, so you can tell if a drive was disconnected or the files were moved.

One small addition on how to get there: select the offline clips in the Project panel, then choose File > Link Media... and click Locate to open that window.

Did that help you find the missing clips?

In the Locate File window, check the Last Path field to see where the file was previously stored and which hard drive it was on:
