Hi guys

ive recently purchased premiere pro and yes my laptop is a 2017 Mac book air - I have mainly edited on I movie to the max of its ability and can do everything in real time (effects, graphics etc) and playback is speedy. Been messing around with some footage and lowered all the resolutions to 1/4 and done the GPU trick and still when I put in a literal 3 second graphic onto the timeline it's super laggy to the point where I can't edit at all - then it takes about 25 mins to render that tiny effect...

is my system just to bad ? Shall I do a software update ? Is there anything else I can try

many thanks

V

system requirements

processor : 1.8ghz intel core 5

memory: 8gb 1600 MHz DDR3

grpahics : intel hd graphics 6000 1536mb

Veromalka,

Your machine doesn't meet specs. That said, you might try transcoding the footage to ProRes LT 720P to see if that would work better than your H.264 originals, which is what I suspect you are editing with now. Add a separate SSD, and it could work for light editing. Try it and report back.

Thanks,
Kevin

macbook air's are underpowered for premiere.   8 gigs ram is low and I suspect your graphics card is also not good enough... seems the minimum is 2 gigs...  https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/system-requirements.html#gpu-acceleration

but tell us the pixel dimensions of the graphic and your sequence settings...  they may be some if not all of the problem.

also the file format of the graphic might be part of the problem...
