HEVC and H.264 NVIDIA accelerated encoding in Adobe CC 2018

Hello Everyone,

Guinea pigs needed!

A couple of days ago we added NVIDIA graphics card accelerated H.264 and HEVC export to our Daniel2 plugin for Adobe CC 2018. This is for Windows 10 64 bit only.

HEVC export is only supported by 2nd gen Maxwell and Pascal series cards (e.g. GTX1060). H.264 export by virtually any NVIDIA card.

Hardware accelerated export can be many times faster than CPU based export - depending on the CPU of course.

The H.264 quality is passable. No miracles here. On the other hand HEVC quality is quite OK especially looking at the speed. Max supported res is 8K!!!

At the moment the H.264 export file format is MP4 only and the one for HEVC is .TS only. Both play fine with the Windows 10 integrated "Movies & TV" player.

This player also plays HEVC 8K with HW acceleration.

At the moment the setting for export are deliberately simple as are the available frame rates.

The plugin can be downloaded for free on its dedicated web site: https://www.daniel2.com/index.php/products/adobe-plugin

Please provide me with any feedback directly - good or bad.

Thanks!

Jan
