HLG for Sony

Premiere pro was updated to version 2022 but unfortunately I have a problem with my HLG files recorded with Sony a7iii, they are revealed in a way that the whites are overexposed and it does not allow me to colorize correctly, does anyone know what happened with that ?

Thank you

Hi Sergio,

It's a new feature that may be affecting your footage. From "Dead Sync" on Reddit on a post where they explain:

"One of the main things that changed in 2022 is the ability for more filetypes to have their embedded ICC profiles recognized (or overwritten). Perhaps check your clips to see what color space the footage is set to (Right click > Modify > Interpret Footage) and see if that's set to what you expect. That's the first thing that comes to mind.

Also when you say your "settings set to HLG" I'm guessing you mean you set the Sequence Color Space to Rec 2100 HLG? Setting other things, like the Lumetri Scopes space, will just adjust those specific things.

I also personally haven't edited HDR on Premiere before, but I do know proper monitoring requires additional hardware and an HDR supported display. To me, seeing footage over-exposed makes sense (since the color values would be exceeding that of the display)."

So, check the Interpret Footage dialog box and let us know if it is set to the proper input LUT.

Thanks,
Kevin

Dear Kevin,

Sony hlg3 clips need to be interpreted to rec709 to show properly.

However proxies are not respecting the Colourspace and render overexposed.
