How can I add a timer graphic to a time lapse video

I'm editing a time lapse video, and I want to have a timer running with real time, not timecode time.

The timecode plugin isn't working for this, because I can't speed it up to show real time, it only shows video time.

What are my options to get this done?

How about a video clip with a real-time clock, have it move just as the time lapse.
