How do I create a frame or placeholder frame where I can place a video?

Similar to photoshop's frame tool, is there a way for me to add a placeholder frame on a part of a video so I can easily place a video on that spot while restricting its size and position to the placeholder frame's size and position?

 

Here's what I plan to do in my video: Have a computer monitor as background, then on the monitor's screen there's a video playing. I have a variety of videos to place. I can do this with "Replace with clip", but the problem with that tool is if the video's resolution is not the same as the video it just replaced, the resolution changes and I have to resize it again to exactly fit the monitor screen on the background.

 

Please advise. Thanks.

    You will need to manually adjust the clip if the pixel sizes of the replacement clips are different.

    There is no automatic way to do that.

    Hello YourNameMikuro,

     

    I'm not sure about how photoshop's frame tool works, thus unsure of your original question.

     

    But from the issue you subsequently outlined, I would suggest using a nested sequence.

    The nested sequence could be placed and sized as desired for the composite. Then, you could change out clips insided the nested sequence as desired.

      I see. How do I restrict the size of nested sequence that no matter what image and size of the image I placed on it, it'll always end up in a fixed size, like a square sized image. That's how frame tool works or placeholder on photoshop.

       

      Description of the tool in PS: The Frame tool allows you to draw placeholder frames that you can fill with images.

      Try what I have suggested.

      There is no need to "restrict the size" of a nested sequence - you set it once and leave it. Just be sure not to change it if prompted. (You might be prompted if adding material to an empty sequence).
