How do I Create Rolling and Crawling Titles in Premiere Pro?

Jesus this is pretty bad. I'm talking Sony Home Movie Studio tablet editing bad. I can understand a tool or feature that the typical user doesn't use, but why would you change the text tool?

How do you do scrolling credits with the latest version of Premiere? It use to be pretty simple, but now I'm at a complete lost with the backwards controls.

It use to be a pretty simple tool people would use, but why make it so hard to find now? Even the Title Workspace has never worked for me. Literally when I click it nothing happens. All the others work fine, Editing, Color, Effects, etc, but with Titles selected nothing happens.

Long story short can someone please tell me how to do scrolling credits please? If it involves manually setting the x and y axis of the titles then I really want to start a petition to fire the R&D lab at Adobe.

You can access the legacy title engine by going to file/new/Legacy Title. Go to roll/crawl options and change to roll. Start off screen/end off screen of you like.

I really would like to know the reason for changing the Text tool to Graphics? We will need tutorials on this for some time to come and the result is that it will increase the learning curve and cause semi-pro users to look for alternatives. I really would like to know the reason and what possible benefits are being gained from this change!

There are many major things you can do with complex animated graphics that with some learning and practice are both amazing and faster to make than what you could ever do with that ancient basic Titler tool.

Plus as mentioned this is designed to work with other Adobe graphics apps.

Does it take some learning? Yep.

But it takes only a few tutorials and some practice time to start creating elements you can save and mix as you choose.

Then add in the text animation options in AfterEffects ... it's got legs.

I am sorry about this frustrating experience, but you can still access the old titler and you can create roll/crawl titles in that.

As mentioned by Richard M Knight & RobShultz, you can find that option under File > New > Legacy Title

Jim is right, in the latest version of Premiere Pro (11.1.2) we have changed that workspace to Graphics.

You've got a glitch with the update. There is no Title workspace any more. It's now called the Graphics workspace.

Resetting your preferences should resolve this.

The exact same way it has always worked best - create the title in Photoshop and keyframe Position to simulate a roll.

What are you talking about? There is no way to scroll text in Adobe Pro!

Um ... there's been scrolling text created in Premiere for like, ever. It's pretty simple to work with either the Essential Graphics Panel's scrolling tools, or simply to fill a text block with text, then start your keyframes.

From the EGP, create your text block. Deselect it, so the line isn't highligted in the EGP layer stack ... then choose the Roll option. And set your roll desires.

Or simply add your text to a text block, go to the Effects Control Panel, and set that say down below the screen at X point in your timeline, set a timed keyframe.

Go to where on the sequence you want it to finish, move the credits text block where you want it to be on/off screen at finish, set another keyframe.

why would you change the text tool?

To make it the same code used in both After Effects and Photoshop, thus allowing better integration.

Click on the text.

Open effect controls.

Animate position.

I dont like the Title workspace either.
