How do you change the duration of a title in premiere pro?

Hi Guys, 

I am used to using FCPX where I drag in a title and I simply drag the end of the title clip on the timeline to the length I need it, but in PP it tells me I have reached my limit which is only a few seconds and I need minutes.

I have seen a few posts suggesting I need to go to preferences and change the still image duration, but that doesn't work for me either?
