Question

How many years before this show-stopper bug is going to be fixed?

The UI breaking and not refreshing bug, with custom Workspaces when importing WAV files, is really annoying. Is there no one in Adobe that can own this thing and fix it once and for all? It is plague the application for so many versions now. Even the very latest beta of Premiere Pro. Seriously, this is getting ridiculus and its the soul reason I am considering to swtich to DaVinci Resolve...

Please, do something about it!

Thanks for that very useful data, because of being enough specific to get a good feel.

As noted, I haven't ever had this, and I do a lot of adding of WAV files, and always work in custom workspaces. Have for over a decade now.

So figuring out what triggers this is worthwhile. I've been totally Pc, currently still everything on Win10. Several desktops and laptops, nothing's ever had this.

Also, it seems it won't happen on an empty timeline, of a fresh project.
You need to have some editing going on, using multiple layers etc. to get into this bug.

The workaround I found that works in my case, is to revert to any of the default Workspaces and not use any custom ones. If you google this problem you'll see that it's been plagued PremierePro since at least  year 2020. And it's not just related to WAVs, but it's more common with them. It happens with mp3s as well, and even mp4 files. I can't post any screenshots, but basically each UI panel's contents vanish the moment you add a file into the timeline, and only redraw/refresh itself, panel by panel, if you start right clicking on the windows, or the menu bar. That happens with custom Workspaces only; if you revert to a default one, the issue is gone.

Can you please share a few screen shots on what it is that you run into?

Thanks.

I have nine custom workspaces. I import a lot of WAV files. I've never ever had a problem. NOT to say you aren't, but it ain't necessarily that common, and I can't replicate.

So ... what, very specifically, is happening on your machine? What created the WAV files that break things? And what have you done, and are doing, when it breaks?

Maybe we can troubleshoot this out ... or find practical workarounds or something.
