How new AI-powered Object Mask tool interacts with proxies?

If I have proxies on and use a lower-quality version than the original clips, would this affect the accuracy of the Object Mask tool's results (especially when Tracker is applied)? Or does the tool still address the original files as the app does for rendering?

If your high-resolution media is attached, Premiere Pro uses it for the Object Mask, even when proxies are enabled.

If your high-resolution media is offline and the proxy is attached, Premiere Pro uses the proxy for the Object Mask. Keep in mind that this means you are drawing the mask from a lower-resolution image, so fine details and edges can be compromised compared to using the high-resolution footage.

Hey there, great question! I just tested it on my laptop and used Object Mask on a proxy. When I disabled the proxy, the footage switched back to hi-res, and all the tracked information remained. When I exported it at high quality, all the masking information I applied to the proxy was visible in the exported video.

Long story short, you should be able to use Object Mask on proxy footage with no issue, then disable the proxy when you're ready to export and retain your mask data.
