Question

How to accurately place sound effects.

Hey people

ok used AE for about 10 years but only just got into using Pr, mainly because of dynamic link etc

i came from using FCPX as my editing software which was fantastic but now I am really enjoying using Pr and the ease it brings to my workflow with dynamic link etc

one thing is bugging me though, in final cut, if I drag in a sound effect clip, say for eg of a gun shot, it’s gives me a visual indication of where it will be in the actual video, as I move the sound clip, the video scrubs along with it so I know exactly where it will go.

now I do the same in Pr, and I have to guess where it’s going, I mean I can move the timeline to the exact place then drop the clip there but seems a little clunky and more guesswork.

is there any settings or anything I can change to make this easier or more accurate does anyone know please?

Does audition have anything similar?

thank you.

Put the playhead where you want the audio clip to go and then drop it there.

In other words, find the right spot before you drag over the effect, not after.

No.  Premiere Pro just doesn't work the same.

    Expand the track and/or timeline.

    Change timecode to Audio Units.
