How to add glyphs in Premiere?

I'm trying to add a temperature degree symbol using Essential Graphics in Premiere CC, but can't seem to figure out how. And the keyboard shortcut for degree that people say works on Macs (Option + Shift + 😎 doesn't seem to work either. Any ideas?
