Question

How to attach proxies that was made within camera, all at once on premiere pro?

When you make proxy within premire pro (I mean Media Encoder), it is so easy to attach proxy to original media, it is basically just one click and every proxy will automatically attach to the original media all at once.

HOWEVER, I sometimes get the hard drive that include original media and proxy that was already made within camera (not made within media encoder), in this case, I CANNOT automatically attach proxy to original media all at once, but I have to literally attach each proxy to each original media one by one. After I attach all proxy one by one first, I don't have to attach these anymore from next time when I open the project file though. But it is still annoying that I have to attach proxy ONE BY ONE, so I was wondering if there's anything that makes my editing flow smoother than what it is currently when you get proxy that was not created within Media Encoder?

I can understand your frustration.

Don't know for sure if this will work (have not tested it myself!), but please analyze how PPro creates proxies using the internal PPro way, where they are stored and make sure the proxy files you've received are renamed in a similar way and placed where PPro is designated to store its proxies.

However, if does not prove successful, perhaps recreating proxies using PPro is still the better solutions as you'll safeguard that it will work.

Hope this helps.

Hi @和玖23898697dvgi,

Sounds like a frustrating problem. Can you inspect the drive that the proxies are located on in the Media Browser? If not, it may be security and permissions issue for that drive. That was my case on macOS anyway. Let me know.

Thanks,
Kevin
