Question

How to darken part of a video clip

Hi

I have three very short video clips to put together. They were all shot indoors. One clip was shot much earlier in the evening than the other two.

I need to make all clips look as if they were shot when it was night.

To do this in one of the clips I need to blacken the window glass in a background window and darken the shadows in other places.

How do I do this in Premier Pro please?

Regards

Christabel

    That's ... the 64 gazillion dollar question ... ok.

The window ... make a mask of the bright area, feathered slightly, then track it if the camera moves. Use a Lumetri effect on that masked area to darken and change whatever controls are needed to make it look like the others.

As to the shadows, perhaps (if you're lucky) you can just use say the luma slider on the left color wheel in the Color wheel tab to just slide the shadows darker ... if that doesn't match what you need, you may need to make masks of the shadow areas also.

It's ... doable ... but could be a bit of work.
