How to delete video sections on the timeline via the transcript?

When generating a transcript it becomes possible to remove for instance silences and breaks. You can search for a word within the transcript, but you can't actually delete it when right clicking for instance.

How do you delete a section of the timeline directly by deleting the word?

Correct answer caroline_edits

This option is greyed out.

Hey Yumii,

I'm wondering if maybe you generated a "static transcript" instead of a "text-based editing" transcript. That might be why the options to edit are greyed out. If you select the "..." icon in the top right, does it give you the option to generate a text-based editing transcript, or does it still say "generate static transcript"?

Let us know, see the screenshot on where to find the options!

@yumiifmb,

Just as for removing silences, you must be in sequence/timeline view of the transcript to use Delete. In the lower left of the Transcript window, you can see the "follow active monitor" checkbox and the icon indicating which view you are in.

I don't have that issue, though. Removing silences works fine.

Hey yumifmb,

Just delete the word in the transcription, then press the Extact button. Have you tried that? Works a treat here. Let us know.

Thanks,
Kevin

Can you please show screenshots of what to do?

Hi yumiifmb,

You may right-click on the words that you want to delete & select the option Delete (Ripple) from the context menuThe default shortcut for this is the "delete" key on your keyboard. You can also perform other actions, like Cut (Extract) from the same context menu.

Hope it helps. Let us know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Sumeet
