How to edit News Templates

In the Premiere Essential Graphics panel, I found some awesome-looking templates in the [AE] News folder. How do I edit or customize those? Mostly, I'd just like to see how they were made as a learning experience. I couldn't find any option in Premiere and couldn't find any mention of templates in After Effects itself.

Drop the template to the timeline, then select it. With it selected, in the Essential Graphic panel click on edit, or in the Effect Controls Pane, open up Motion Graphics Templates to see the controls, etc.

I mean I want to see the layers and "inner" timeline stuff, not the properties. To me, a "template" is something you can dig into and customize -- this is just like ... a video clip unless I'm incorrect.

Of course you can modify and change things in a mogrt. MtD said how to get into them.

Some mogrts are fairly simple, some amazingly complex. The one you're looking at is clean, direct, easy to use and to modify. If you start tinkering you can add elements and animation and make it much more complex.

Some of the free ones available through Adobe Stock are wondrously complex. A few were probably built in AfterEffects which has so many more text and shape and animation options than any NLE.

Over in AE you can build a graphic, selecting which options are user-changeable in the exported mogrt.
