Question

How to fix dots that suddenly appear in footage?

Using Adobe Premiere Pro v 21.12.1 (build 1) on an Apple MacBook w/ M1 Pro Chip and Monterey OS v12.6.3.

I ingested Phantom Camera .CINE files yesterday by simply dragging-dropping and they played down and exported back out as .mov files totally fine.

Today I dragged-dropped the same two .CINE files into a new Premier project and the footage has these noisey blue and whiote dots in the blueberries in the footage (screen shot below). Maybe there was an overnight update to Premiere or OS that is causing this?

Anyway, I deleted the existing projects and the footage then restarted my laptop, downloaded the footage again, dropped the shots into Premiere Pro and again these dots are present.

Any suggestions on how to remedy this? Also would love to know the cause if anyone knows. Thanks!

Delete the Media Cache and Media Cache files:

If that doesn't work, try resetting the preferences:
https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro/faq-how-to-reset-trash-preferences-in-premiere-pro/td-p/8236158?page=1

If that doesn't work, try resetting the Workspaces:
Reset a workspace
Reset the current workspace to return to its original, saved layout of panels.
1. Do one of the following:
• Click the Workspace menu icon and select Reset to Saved Layout.
• Choose Window > Workspace > Reset to Saved Layout.
from here:
https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/workspaces.html

If that doesn't work, try Preferences > Audio Hardware and set Input to None.

If that doesn’t work, try updating or rolling back your graphics driver directly from the video card manufacturer’s site. If NVIDIA, do a clean installation of the latest Studio Driver (NOT the Game Driver)

If that doesn't work, try creating a new project and import the old one into it.

FWIW: The current version is 23.3 so, you're a couple of years behind on updates. I don't know what those are unless they are caused by a video driver.

Thanks. I guess the Adobe Subscription plan doesn't push updates. Just had to manually update Premiere. Footage still has dots.

You can turn on that option in Creative Cloud, to keep your apps up to date.
