How to Fix the AC-3 missing Codec for Windows 11 24H2 and beyond

This isn’t the question. I’ve gone through that process, on here and other sites.

The problem is Windows 11 24H2 and beyond, no longer natively support Dolby Digital’s AC-3 codec.

That means Premier Pro, Media Encoder, Audition & Windows own Media Player will not recognise any sound in the MTS video files.

A working suggestion I found somewhere else is to install the Dolby AC-3/AC-4 Installer(s) found on Major Geeks download site. Download Dolby AC-3/AC-4 Installer - MajorGeeks.

I’ve had our IT crew check the file and they are clean.

They work ** for me at least **, in all the above-mentioned applications, including on the new Windows 11 26H2 update.

Just install the relevant installer and your good to go.
