Good news. You won't lose or change your original 7-minute video when you edit it in Premiere. Editing in the Timeline is non-destructive, so you can cut, trim, or even delete parts of the clip from your sequence and the original imported video remains unchanged in the Project panel.

For your reel, you can double-click the 7-minute clip in the Project panel to open it in the Source Monitor. Find a section you want to use, press I to mark the beginning and O to mark the end, then drag that selection into your reel sequence. Repeat that for each section you want.

Your full 7-minute source video will still be there if you need to go back and select another part of it.
