How to match original footage to exported and reimported edited MP4? Using Premiere Pro 2022 on Mac

Hi all,

A few months ago I exported a cut as H264 and reimported it into a timeline, edited it like crazy and now realize I want to have this new cut but with the original higher quality footage. Is there a way I can automate this process or do I have to go back and visually match the original footage to the mp4 now edited in my timeline?

Thanks for your help!

Jenny

Do you still have the project that the MP4 was exported from?

I would import that project into the newer project where you have been editing the MP4 and rebuild the edit with the original footage from there with the MP4 cut as a reference.

Hi, yes I do have that project. I was dreaming that there would be some kind of match back in some way that could handle this.

I can definitely try what you suggested. Thanks!
