How to Relink to Proxy folders after moved to new location

Hello,

I recently made proxies for a video. I was able to create the proxies and now I can toggle between proxy and normal footage work modes - awesome!

However, this is still too laggy for my computer, as both the original files and the proxy files are on an external hard drive.

I'd like to bring the proxy folders onto my computer so I can just work from there. However, since I've copied the proxy folders onto my desktop - when I try to reconnect the files in premiere, each file must be relinked individually.

Is there anyway to get these proxies in a new location to relink to the footage? Thank you so much for the help!!

I think I will have to redo the proxies in that case. It's too bad there isn't a way to just tell premiere that the proxies on my desktop computer correspond to the original files on the external hard drive.

If you rightclick on the the clips in the Project Window > Proxy > Attach Proxies....

We had exactly the same problem but the solution for us was fairly simple. This might not be the case for everyone but our proxies were named with _Proxy.mp4. The original files were Alexa ProRes Quicktimes. In Match File Properties we had File Name and Extension checked. We just unchecked everything in the Match File Properties and checked Relink others automatically and it all linked up perfectly. Hope this helps someone else in the future.

Same problem... Solved in making a single new proxy and selecting the folder containing all your proxies you want to relink as destination folder. restart the app. Premiere will ask you to relink when opening the app. Relinking the first one will relink the others automatically.

hi.. you have to bring everything to your local computer.. the proxies and the originals as they are

open the project, if you have several bins, open each bin, select all files, right click then attach proxies

click on the first one, others will be linked automatically if you checked 'relink others automatically'

if your problem persists, try toggling between checkboxes, like file extension and use media browser, see what works

Thanks. My problem is that I only have storage space on the computer for the proxies, and not the original files. Is there any ways to use proxies off of my computer, while the original files are on a plugged in external hard drive?

when you create proxies, you have 2 options, either to put their location next to originals or choose your location.

try to choose your location and set it to your local hard drive. premiere will now understand that these proxies

which are on your local drive, are linked to the originals on the external, when you right click on any of your

proxies in the project panel to reveal its properties, you will notice that you have both the properties of the

original videos and the proxies. But premiere will be reading the proxies now, it will automatically start reading

the proxies as soon as they are encoded. when you finish, select all of your proxies in the project panel,

right click and link the originals but make sure you check 'relink others automatically' and that your external

hard drive that contains the original videos is attached to your pc.
