How to Transfer Custom Premiere Pro cc2018 audio and video presets to new imac

Hi,

I'm about to sell my macbookpro and buy a new imac soon (fresh start). Currently in the process of transferring important files to an external hard drive now. I'm looking to transfer all my custom PP cc2018 audio and video (effects) presets as well, but am not sure of which files or even the process to do so. Is this done within premiere pro or is it done through Finder on mac OS? Do I just drag certain folders or files onto the external? What is going on? You may have noticed I'm not very tech savy, and yet very nervous about getting the correct files, because I will have erased my old mac before I get the new imac.

Past what Ann says, you can also sync your preferences of the current machine up to your CC cloud, then sync that machine to your cloud settings after you get it.

And ... yea, I like copying the files to a folder for safekeeping also! Here's the page from Adobe on where the User prefernces & presets of various times 'live' on the local machines.

Thank you for the "syncing preferences to the cc cloud" tip (and the link). Are there any drawbacks to moving my presets over this way as opposed to manually copying files onto a hard drive?

As for manually copying Preset to a hard drive, I'm not sure if this is the file I need:

Document > Premiere Pro > 12.0 >  Profile-[username] > Effect Presets and Custom Items.prfpset

When I exported one of the many presets I have, like Ann Bens suggested above, it gave me a .prfpset file as well. So, do I have to make a separate .prfpset file for every single preset or will the above file "Effect Presets and Custom Items.prfpset" contain all my presets in one convenient file?

If you copy that folder, and when your new rig arrives, copy thr contents of that to the same folder that PrPro will setup, you'll have all your presets after restarting PrPro.

Custom effect presets can be exported and imported.

Thank you for the quick response. When I exported one of the many presets I have, it gave me a .prfpset file. So, do I have to make a separate .prfpset file for every single preset or will the below file "Effect Presets and Custom Items.prfpset" contain all my presets in one convenient file?

I'm not sure if this file can replace exporting all the presets individually or not:

Document > Premiere Pro > 12.0 >  Profile-[username] > Effect Presets and Custom Items.prfpset
