How to use 16x9 wide shot in a 9x16 ad? Ideas?

Just trying to get some creative ideas from other editors on how they approach implementing a 16x9 video or footage into a 9x16 format for an ad or something more professional. I don't like the approach where you simply make the background a scaled up and blurred duplicate of the video. Sometimes I'll use split screen and just repeat the video above and below but I find that it's too distracting or seems like an afterthought. I am attaching just two things that I had to do because the client really wanted it this way but wanted to get some ideas if anyone had any! Thanks in advance!
