HSL Secondary washes out video clip when turned on

Hi,

I spent some time looking on the internet for an answer and can't seem to find anyone who's having the same problem.

After I make a selection using HSL Secondary and as soon as I make an adjustment, the entire image/video clip gets washed out and loses all contrast. Am I doing something wrong here?

Here are some notes:

- The mask I've made is good (when viewed on White/Black preview, there is a clear defined selection)

- I'm able to make adjustments to my selection, except that the entire image gets washed out

- I've tried exporting the clip thinking it might be a bug but it exports with the washed out look

- I'm wondering if it has anything to do a with a premade LUT I use?

Would appreciate any help! Thank you so much!

I think I figured it out..... Had to put all of my adjusments/LUT I added on a separate adjusment layer above my clip, then do my HSL Secondary adjustments on the actual clip.

I should not be spending an hour to figure out a loophole to get something to work.

Adobe really needs to get it together. I'm THIS close to moving to DaVinci Resolve....

I've never had an issue doing anything in Lumetri via an adjustment layer. So this is an intriguing post.

If you have already made changes to the clip in any tab "above" the HSL Secondary tab, the key is taken from the image as processed through all the above steps. Which means it can be problematic.

Now ... you say if you made a change it went washed out ... where specifically did you make the change? And did you have the mask of the HSL tab still active? As you need to turn the mask off to then do any work with the controls below the mask keyers ... and that is clearly not obvious to a lot of users.

The only changes you can make to the selection of the key from the HSL tab are the controls below the key section in the HSL tab. Which is something that is also not obvious to everyone. I've known a number of users that assumed they could make a mask/key, then use controls in 'earlier' tabs to change the keyed selection. Not so.

So ... any details as to your specific steps, where, and in order, would be helpful to sort out what happened.
