I can't edit in adobe audition

I cannot edit any audio in adobe audition. The option is not greyed out but when I click on it nothing happens. It used to open in adobe audition straight away and now nothing happens. I am up to date on software, I have restarted my computer and I have also tried having audtion already open before I open premiere pro.

Any ideas?
