Question

I have issues using my NIKON ZR footage in my version of Adobe Premiere Pro V26.2.2.

No matter format I shoot on, whether it is H265 10 bit (MOV) or 8 bit (MP4) or RED format, no matter what the frame rate or HD or 4K, frames or constantly dropping in playback and and the footage looks heavily pixelated. Most of the footage also plays with lag in Window Media player as well, but my computer has NEVER had a problem playing 4K footage before now.

My only  comment on your machine is Premiere is more heavily based on the CPU/RAM than say Resolve, which uses the GPU more. So ... going to 64GB might be a help. MIght get fewer dropped frames during playback. And the 8 bit mp4 might be an issue on the AMD CPU due to being long-GOP. Although I run on a Ryzen 3960X myself, I know that many AMD chips do not have the on-board graphics for long-GOP “hardware” acceleration. Mine doesn’t.

Although the missus uses a Zf now, for our portrait studio, I’ve not shot any video with it. So I’m not knowledgeable on the formats/codecs used on Nikon these days.

Do you mean using 64GB DDR5 instead of 32 GB DDR5?

What does long-GOP mean?  Once again, I am not an IT guy, so I really don’t know much about computers.

I had 2x 4TB SSD installed into my computer last summer, so my media is on DRIVE E (one of the 4TBs SSD) and my media cache goes to renders to DRIVE 4 (one of the 4TBs SSD).  Drive E has 2 TB free of the 4TB and Drive F has 3TB of 4TB left.

I have tried clearing my cache (first thing I tried) and the issue still remains.

    My Computer specs..

    CyberPowerPC - AMD Ryzen 7 9700X - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti 16GB - 32GB DDR5 - 2TB PCIe 4.0 SSD

    Premiere Pro V26.2.2.

I am an Adobe Premiere Pro editor, but I am not an IT Guy.  I have never had an issue playing / editing / rendering 4k footage before and have never had to edit using proxies in any project I have ever done.

Please let me know if you need more info, I am happy to provide.
