Question

I haven't been able to use mercury transmit for a year. Am I the only one?

I made this post back in april:  https://community.adobe.com/t5/After-Effects/Mercury-Transmit-Video-Preview-Bug/m-p/10673570#M94325

I had been experiencing the bug for months and months but that was my first post about it.  For almost a year, the mercury transmit feature has been broken in After Effects and Premiere.  This is a crucial feature especially at work when needing to preview works in progress to a group, or as a means to view what your output looks like on a 4k screen or any other monitor.  I was hoping this would be patched out by now but with 2020 released it is STILL not fixed.  It just crashes premiere immediately if I try to enable it and it freezes After Effects.  I'm extremely dissappointed that this feature has remained broken this long. Am I just unlucky or is this broken for anyone else? This bug is present on both AMD and Nvidia systems, as I've checked on several systems to confirm that it is broken.  What gives?

I had Premiere hang and freeze and output a black screen every time I tried to enable mercury transmit.  The workaround was to swap the order of how I plugged the video cables to the graphics card and it finally worked.

Hope that helps someone out.

I use that daily in both apps, as do most users. So clearly what's happening in your system is somewhat limited but that isn't to say you're the only one with whatever is causing this. And it's nasty, no questions there.

PLEASE... post this in detail on the UserVoice system. That does go directly to the engineers systems and in collated form to the upper managers who decide budgets and such.

I just got back from Adobe MAX and had a chance to talk with among others from the development team Ivo Manolov who was brought in a few months back to change the entire system to be more responsive to bugs and performance issues, and one of the engineers whose job is to read every bug report in the UserVoice system. And they do read every single one every day.

They both made it very clear that they want any bug or potential bug reported in detail there so they can judge user experiences and difficulties.

And that they know they have a lot more to get after.

I had the same issue as this thread initially but the patch release with the general fix for this got my system working as it did for most users.

But clearly NOT for you. They need as much data as possible to sort out why most systems are running and yours and undoubtedly a few others aren't. It's the engineer's continuing problem: if you can neither replicate nor quantify the problem, you can't fix it.

LM,

Seen this repsonse on User Voice? "I was having this problem as well (on mac). As it turns out, my premiere window was slightly off the screen and spilling over into one of my other two (not sure which one exactly). When i resized the window to fit the screen, my full screen playback started working again. Hope this helps."

Thanks,
Kevin
