Question

I'm canceling my Adobe subscription until Premier works correctly.

I am canceling my subscription. The play button does not work, the Export window freezes or displays incorrectly, and working with keyframes is inconvenient. The video keeps jumping. Sometimes program windows switch on their own. Sometimes artifacts appear in the video!  I'll be back when these errors are corrected and it will be possible to work!

Hi @Paul_Gringo - Premiere Pro has an open sdk which means third party developers can create apps within Premiere Pro.  When Premiere Pro is updated the developers also have to update their software to be compatible with the latest changes, if they don't it can cause stability problems in Premiere which can lead to crashes.  This means customers need to update their plugins with their software to ensure compatibility.

Since you are having playback issues you can search the forums for the sony catalyst browse plugin which they have built their own decoder and it causes all sorts of playback issues.  This is why we ask these questions to narrow down what is causing our customers the issue.  If you could try and disable your effects to see if that helps it can help give us more information as to what is causing your issue.

Look, it's not about the plugins! I'm talking about regular editing without color correction using a proxy. What is the connection between plugins when the PROGRAM WINDOW does not work?

Hi @Paul_Gringo - Plugins can cause all sorts of problems especially with new releases of the software, they often times will need to be updated.

Can you try and hold down "shift" while opening Premiere Pro and select the checkbox "Disable Third Party Plugins (one time)" and let us know if that helps your issue.  You can also navigate to the "Effects" Panel and select the hamburger menu at the bottom select "Manage Video Effects" and you can disable individual plugins to see which one might be causing issues.

Do you have anything like Sony catalyst or Catalyst browse installed?

If you are using the Panasonic S5 Here are the various recording codecs.

  • H.264/MOV 4:2:0 8-Bit:
  • H.264/MOV 4:2:2 10-Bit
  • H.265/MOV 4:2:0 10-Bit:

With your Nvidia GPU you will get Hardware acceleration with H.264/MOV 4:2:0 8-Bit but NOT H.264/MOV 4:2:2 10-Bit

However if you have an iGPU and Quicksync turned on you should get Hardware acceleration with H.265/MOV 4:2:0 10-Bit

and H.264/MOV 4:2:0 8-Bit

Do you have any other control surfaces or plugins installed?
Do you have hardware acceleration turned on in your Preferences?

Hi @Paul_Gringo - Since you are experiencing a lot of issues.  Would you be able to post a screen recording and hopefully we can understand better what you are experiencing?

Thank you for part of the information we also need to know exact details of the driver, can you confirm that you are using 566.14.

Confirming that your audio hardware is set to "No Input"

What type of media are you working with?  In your video it would be helpful to right click on your media and select Media File Properties.

"No Input". I have been using the program for the first time, I know about the settings. I have the latest version of Nvidia Studio. Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-14700K 3.40 GHz, 64 DDR5 6400, SSD Samsung 990 PRO 1TB, RTX 3060 Ti GDDR6X

Hi @Paul_Gringo - This sounds like a lot of frustrating issues.  We can help to try and solve them if you would like, but we need some more information.  like what computer and GPU are you using?  If it's a Nvidia graphics card are you using the studio driver?  What type of footage are you working with?

Play button not working and video keeps jumping sounds like an audio hardware issue, Can you check your audio hardware settings and make sure Default Input is set to "No Input"

Can you post a screenshot of the artifacts that you are seeing?

We can start with these questions and I hope we can help you out and get on the right track back to editing!

Glitches come and go, new ones appear, it's just the every day scenario when working with Premiere (although, touch the wood, I've never had any big problems with Premiere on any of my Surface Pro laptops 🙂
