Question

I'm having a problem with black screen in Premier Pro.

The Premier sees a Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (CUDA), and it's greyed out, but my video playback is black, and I can only hear the sound.

Premiere version: 25.2.3

Hardware specifications:

  • R9 9950X3D

  • RTX 5090/ studio drivers ver. 576.52

  • 64 GB

  • SSD

  • WinOS 11

  • The type of media

  • 3D rendered animation video mp4 format

Sequence settings:

  • 1920x1080

  • Square Pixels (1.0)

  • 24 fps

  • 48000 Hz

  • Prewiev file format: QuickTime

Steps I have tried already to solve the issue:

  • Added Premier Pro to the System/Display/Graphics with high priority RTX 5090.

  • Turned off iGPU from AMD.

  • Reinstalled drivers

Hi @Whimsical_creation7163,

Thank you for submitting a bug report. Glad you were able to find a workaround with the Beta as a temporary solution.

Was this happening with only these animation videos or were you noticing it with other files? Could you share more file details? Right-click file > Media File Properties.

Did you check your settings under Preferences > Media and deselect hardware acceleration to see if that might have made a difference?

Sorry for the frustration,
Dani

Hello dear Peru Bob

I already tried this steps too. Fortunately, I found a temporary solution. The problem is with version 25.2.3. I tried the beta version instead and, it works.

Delete the Media Cache and Media Cache files:
https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro/faq-how-to-clear-your-media-cache-in-30-seconds-in-premiere-pro-2020/m-p/11017257/thread-id/260446?page=1

If that doesn't work, try creating a new project and import the old one into it.
