Question

I need to crop a video 50% from the left but don't want black bars and can't scale it 200% to make up for it.

I am trying to crop a video lets say 50% from the left. When I do i have 1/2 the screen black bars on the left. Anyway of just taking the video I just cropped and outputting it to a file? lets say the video is 1920*1080  can I just tell it to export the video to 960*1080 and get those black bars out?

I figured out how to crop and output the file to just show the cropped out part.  So if I take the file and get it down to 1/2 the original resolution of the width ie 640*720 on a 1280*720. When I blow it back up to 1289*720 I get black bars on both sides. I am not sure there is a way to do that without really distorting the picture is there?

Make your sequence 960x1080, drop your footage into that. Adjust whatever is needed.

    Export at 960x1080.
