I've been getting crazy hangs in premiere and media encoder

Premiere 26.2.2 Media Encoder same up to date version

Win 10, 4090

I’m getting some crazy hangs in premiere and media encoder, like they’re not even in the crash log, it just stops working, I can’t force quit, I can’t even click the program to bring it to the foreground, I have to restart my computer entirely. It’s not happening consistently or when any one thing happens. I’m dealing with an exfat drive that I have to transfer stuff off of but is anyone else getting these types of issues? My system and usually premiere are a rock, i rarely ever have issues.
