Immersive Video Effects Require GPU Acceleration - Already Activated...

Hi everyone,

I've recently run into an issue on Premiere Pro CC 2019, I believe Version 13.1

I'm currently running GPU Acceleration (Metal) and I've also tried running OpenCL - however neither are helping in this scenario. Every time I apply an Immersive Video effect, I get the red banner telling me that GPU Acceleration is Required for the effect to render correctly. I've reserved as much RAM as possible for PP and all my settings are set so that this shouldn't happen.

I'm running a 2018 MacBook Pro 15" - i9 Processor, 32GB RAM, 4TB SSD so spec wise we shouldn't have a problem.

Does anyone know a way around this? I've attempted to downgrade PP to an older version but the issue is persisting.

Hi neasanmcbeer,

Sorry for the frustration. I noticed this issue too. It occurs when your Project Settings are not set correctly for GPU acceleration. Go to File > Project Settings > General and choose Video Rendering and Playback > Renderer > Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (Metal). Is that working now? Please let us know.

Thanks,
Kevin

I'm on 13.0.2. I had to reset my preferences today due to a crash by holding alt while opening Premiere.

Now I'm experiencing the same issue when I wasn't before even though I've set my GPU Acceleration to Metal.

Late 2013 Mac Pro, 2.7Ghz 12-Core, 64 GB RAM, AMD FirePRO D500 3072MB

EDIT: A potential solve I've just discovered is to reduce the resolution of the asset. I was working with monoscopic .jpg stills of 11442 x 5721. Reducing their dimensions by 50% in Photoshop before importing allows the effect to work without the warning.  The new resolution of 5721 x 2861 will works nicely in a 1080p timeline.
