Question

import clip with different aspect ratio

i have the following scenario  -- all clips are shot with the same video camera - sony 4k video camcorder

I put a clip on the timeline
this was shot in 9 X 16 aspect ratio which is the normal for any video camera

Then I went to the settings of sequence and changed
the frame size

earlier it was saying 3840 X 2160
I changed it to
2160 X 2160

subsequently when I try to drag and drop a new clip to the time line window I am unable to do so

Question ---
is my procedure correct to change the aspect ratio from 9 X 16 to 1 X 1 ?

How do I solve my issue to import a new clip to the project ?

I recommend creating a sequence the size of the video which is used most often in your cooking show and then adjusting the size of the clips which don't fit the size of the sequence instead of changing the sequence size.

You can mix video codecs, frame rates, aspect ratios and resolutions. Did the video codec get changed to something Premiere Pro cannot accept?

all the videos were shot by the same camera - no changes in codec etc were done

only the frame size was changed in the sequence

subsequently I am unable to import new files or even old files into the project

I mean sometimes I need square videos 1:1 and sometimes 9:16 or sometimes a different aspect ratio for Youtube shorts

any clue - how about you try the same on your computer with a few files and check this out
