Hi there everyone. Hope you are well.

I really hope someone can help me out with this as I am at a loss.

Whenever i try to import 4k50p mp4 files i run into generic error 39 and 81 followed by a crash. When i batch import i can get some of the files to import properly but most still fail or cause a crash. It is very strange because i never run into import issues on 1080p footage but as soon as i touch 4k it becomes an issue.

My rig should be able to accomodate thos i have an i7 with 32gb of ram with an rtx3070 and I'm half decently tech-savy. The codec seems to be h.264 AVC.

I have tried so many things such as changing file names and extensions, proxies, uninstalling, dedicating more RAM, encoding prior to import, importing in different ways.

I have noticed the RAM usage shoot up with multiple instances of PP 2023 opening up in task manager.

The app is installed on my m.2 internal ssd boot and apps drive, the footage was shot on an R5 and the files are located on a seperate m.2 ssd 2TB internal drive copied from another external HDD.

Hello, just in case you haven't found a solution yet, moving virtual memory to the SSD drive on which my footage and premiere is on (and the one with a lot more available storage than my c drive) fixed the issue

Thank you for the reply.

I have tried this but i still get the same issues. I've also tried restring preferences and disabling hardware encoding

I'd try transcoding one of the H624 AVC files to a mezzanine CODEC like DNx or ProRes using Shutter Encoder.  If that imports as expected, then transcode the rest.

In Shutter Encoder, you find DNx and ProRes under "Editing codecs".  For the H264 AVC source, ProRes 422 LT should work well.

Try importing the 4k50p mp4 files through the Media Browser.
