Import tab not showing .mp4 files from Canon R6

When beginning a new project in Premiere Pro, I can't see .mp4 files that are in the selected folder in the Import tab.  These files are created by a Canon R6 MILC.  As a workaround, it turns out the files can be imported directly into the Edit tab and worked with.  The issue only relates to the files not showing in the Import Tab.  Other .mp4 files are shown in the Import tab such as those in the sample folder or earlier output files created in Premiere Elements.
