Question

Imported Clips from a C300 Mark II and C200 and they are all named "CLIPS001"

Went to the Media Browser, clicked the root folder that held the "CONTENTS" folder, and context-menu'd "Import" and every clip is named "CLIPS001". This did not happen with the previous version, just this new Premiere 2020.

Hello Gary @ghuff,

I hope you are well, my friend. It’s been a long time since you filed this bug. I am glad you got a response with the bug marked as "Started." Are you still having this issue? I hope not. Let me know, though.

I'll move your post to the Discussions board while we await your information.

Thanks,

Kevin

Hi all,

We're aware of this problem and currently working on fixing it. It's caused by changing the default naming scheme in the camera, replacing the default "CANON" suffix with something else. Returning to the default name is a workaround but we know it's not a good one, since it's such a useful feature to be able to change the default naming scheme, particularly when on a multi-camera shoot.

Regards,

Fergus

Hi all,

This problem will be fixed in the next version of Premiere Pro, which will be available before the end of December. The fix is already in the beta version, available via Creative Cloud Desktop.

Happy 3rd anniversary to this bug!!! Is it fixed yet or nah?

Also can we please, please have access to old versions? CC19 was probably the last version that was useable and recently lost access due to a computer dying.

Renaming the folder from CLIPS001 to CLIPS002 before importing works to get the correct clip names... but then the problem is that if you use the Canon XF Utility app (to quickly view clips and see all of their info) the Canon app looks for a folder named CLIPS001... so it does not load the clips. Ughhhh!
This is soooo **** frustrating, because it all worked fine 4-5 years ago, and then it was F'd up with a Premiere update at that time.
WHY????
And... why can't this be fixed (ADOBE)??
