Question

Imported MOV files are cut short?

Hi All,

I've recently switched from FC to Premiere on windows and I'm having an odd issue where importing clips into premiere cuts them by several seconds. Any footage longer than 9 mins and 29 seconds is just cut off after that mark, audio and everything. All of my clips were imported into FC from a dvx100 via firewire cable. I suspect it has something to do with that fact, and bringing them in straight from FC is causing a problem. They are .mov files and when I play them in the quicktime player or vlc it plays the entire clip. In my efforts to solve it I put Premiere on my old mac to see if it was bc (i thought) windows and mov files don't mix well usually, but the same thing happened on my mac so I can only conclude it's a software issue. Am I missing something here? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Strange.

Try clearing your media cache.

Also try the clips in Media Encoder.

Are the files definitely self contained and not "spanned" in any way?

Definitely self-contained. Do MiniDV cameras even have spanned clip capability? Something I've been curious about. I will try clearing the cache and the media encoder though, thank you. There are screenshots in my previous post as well.

9;29 means 9 seconds and 29 frames.

When you inspect the clips in the project panel, does it report the correct duration? Are they just blank once you scrub past 9min29? Or does the clip duration say 9min29?

the clip duration says 9,29 in the project panel, and right-click > properties shows the total duration for all affected clips at 9:29. Can't scrub past that point at all. Clip just ends.

Please post a screenshot of the issue.

What version of Premiere?

Is the 9min29sec consistent across multiple files?

The version currently available as part of a subscription to the Adobe suite. Pro CC 2019, I believe? And yes, every clip longer than 9:29 is cut at that mark.
