Importing 40 gig file

Hey all!

I'm having an issue where when I go to import an MP4 file that is about 40 gigs into my premiere and the import window will sit there not moving. I'm not sure how long a file like this should take to import but I let it sit there for a WHILE and then when I go to click cancel it just gives me the not responding message. Can anyone please help? I can import smaller files about 11 gigs. Just not this one and the only thing I can think of is the size of the file!

To anyone that responds....THANK YOU!

Maybe increase the "for a WHILE" to "a LONG time" and see what happens. How long is 'awhile' for you anyway? Maybe go out to lunch or overnight and see what happens. What's your hardware like? Win or Mac, etc..

I actually got it to import by waiting "a LONG time"! Thanks for the response! but honesly Im rocking the I9 7900X with 32gig of ram and a 1080ti so I just didnt expect to have to wait that long tbh.

    Hi Aaron,

Did you capture the footage with OBS? If so, it's a bug. So sorry for the inconvenience. Feel free to upvote the bug here: https://adobe-video.uservoice.com/forums/911233-premiere-pro/suggestions/38987428-premiere-2020-14-0-crashes-when-i-drag-h-264-video
